QA Trainee

A year-long trainee programme in software testing, manual and automated. You will start by testing what other people built, and finish able to say what should be tested before anybody builds it.

What you will learn and do

• ✓Write test cases from a requirement and run them on real builds before a release.
• ✓Do exploratory testing, which is where most of the interesting defects actually come from.
• ✓Automate the regression cases worth running every time, in Playwright or Cypress.
• ✓Test on real Android devices and browsers rather than only the machine on your desk.
• ✓Log defects a developer can reproduce without asking you three questions.
• ✓Sit in release calls and be the person who says whether it is ready.

What we are looking for

• ✓A degree in computer science, IT or a related field, or demonstrable self-teaching.
• ✓Enough JavaScript or Python to read code and write a basic automation script.
• ✓A methodical streak — you are the person who tries the input nobody expected.
• ✓Clear written English, since a defect report is a piece of writing.
• ✓Comfortable saying a build is not ready when it is not ready.
