Requirements checklist

What to ask for when choosing software for amusement parks.

A checklist built from how amusement parks work, to print or save as a PDF and bring to any supplier meeting.

Share your requirements

What the software should cover

Tick each one that matters to your business.

  • Gate ticketing and wristbands
  • Season passes and renewals
  • Ride opening and operating log
  • Ride maintenance and inspections
  • School and group bookings
  • Outlets and merchandise stock
  • Guest incidents and lost children

Roles that need their own access

Who logs in, and what each person may see or change.

  • For park owners and general managers
  • For ride supervisors and operators
  • For engineers and maintenance
  • For ticketing and the cashier
  • For guest services

Reports to ask for

Ask to see each one with your own sample data.

  • Attendance by gate, ticket type and hour
  • Ride downtime, causes and parts used, by ride
  • Opening checks completed and missed, by supervisor
  • Season pass renewals due and passes in use
  • Outlet sales and stock below reorder
  • Group bookings, deposits and balances due
  • Incident and complaint log by ride and month

Systems it may need to connect to

Note which ones you already run.

  • Wristband and barcode readers
  • Payment gateway and card terminals
  • WhatsApp, SMS and email
  • Online ticket page
  • Accounting export

Questions for any vendor

Put these to every supplier you are comparing.

  • Does it keep safety inspection records for every ride?
  • Can one wristband carry tickets and a prepaid balance?
  • How do we handle a ride that stops mid-day?
  • Can groups from schools book and pay a deposit?
  • Does it work for seasonal parks?
  • Will gate lanes keep working if the internet drops?
  • Can we move our current pass holders across?
  • Who owns the guest and ride records?
  • What goes into the quote for a park?
  • How long until the park can open lanes on it?
  • What should the park prepare ahead of the build?

Where the work usually breaks today

Circle the ones you recognise. They set the order of the project.

  • Opening checks sit on loose sheets
  • Breakdowns are told but not tracked
  • Gate counts and sales do not agree
  • Season pass holders are hard to verify
  • Rosters ignore ride requirements
