Requirements checklist
What to ask for when choosing software for battery pack manufacturers.
A checklist built from how battery pack manufacturers work, to print or save as a PDF and bring to any supplier meeting.
What the software should cover
Tick each one that matters to your business.
- Cell lot receiving and grading
- Module build and weld records
- BMS firmware and parameters
- Charge and discharge cycle tests
- Pack serials and labels
- Returns and failure analysis
Roles that need their own access
Who logs in, and what each person may see or change.
- For the plant head
- For grading and welding teams
- For test engineers
- For quality staff
- For stores and dispatch
Reports to ask for
Ask to see each one with your own sample data.
- Cells graded by lot and grade
- Modules built by welder and strip lot
- Capacity results by pack type and channel
- Packs held or reworked, by reason
- Returns by cell lot and failure type
- Firmware version per pack serial
- Packing lists and delivery notes by customer
Systems it may need to connect to
Note which ones you already run.
- SMS
- WhatsApp or other messaging
- Cell grader file import
- Cycle tester file import
- Label printer
- Accounting export
Questions for any vendor
Put these to every supplier you are comparing.
- How does a pack serial link to its cells?
- Can the grader’s files be imported?
- What happens to a cell lot placed on hold?
- Can different chemistries run together?
- Are cycle test curves stored?
- How are weld checks recorded?
- Does it cover transport documents?
- Can a customer ask for a build report?
- Who owns the pack data?
- What does it cost?
Where the work usually breaks today
Circle the ones you recognise. They set the order of the project.
- Cell grading data lives in a file on the grader
- Mixed grades enter the same module
- Weld quality is checked by eye
- BMS firmware and parameters differ by pack
- Returned packs lose their history
