Questions for any vendor
Put these to every supplier you are comparing.
- How does a duty point reach the quotation?
- Can the performance curve be printed for the buyer?
- What if we change the trim after the quotation?
- Can we keep both cast iron and stainless versions of one model?
- Can we record which gauge was used on a hydrostatic test?
- Does it help with pumps sold years ago?
- Can castings from different foundries be tracked?
- What does it cost?
Where the work usually breaks today
Circle the ones you recognise. They set the order of the project.
- The selected trim is not on the machining card
- Casting identity is lost after machining
- Seal choice depends on one person
- Test results sit in a spreadsheet
- Spares quotations start from the wrong pump
