What the software should cover

Tick each one that matters to your business.

  • Raw spice intake and grading
  • Cleaning, grinding and yield
  • Blend recipes by weight
  • Pack coding and batch trace
  • Packing line and carton counts
  • Export and buyer documents

Roles that need their own access

Who logs in, and what each person may see or change.

  • For the store
  • For mill supervisors
  • For blenders
  • For packing line leaders
  • For owners and buyers’ desk

Reports to ask for

Ask to see each one with your own sample data.

  • Moisture reading and colour grade by supplier and lot
  • Destoner loss and pulveriser yield by spice and mesh
  • Blend batches with the ingredient lots issued
  • Pouch batch codes linked to raw sack lots
  • Whole spice stock by rack and age
  • Packed quantity against orders taken

Systems it may need to connect to

Note which ones you already run.

  • Email
  • Barcode and label printing
  • Weighbridge or scale import
  • Accounting export

Questions for any vendor

Put these to every supplier you are comparing.

  • Can it hold moisture readings for each sack lot?
  • How is grinding yield worked out?
  • Can the same blend be repeated exactly?
  • Does a pouch code lead back to the raw lot?
  • Can a weighbridge feed the weight in?
  • Can we pack for other brands?
  • Does it cover buyer documents for export?
  • Who owns the records?
  • How is a quotation prepared?

Where the work usually breaks today

Circle the ones you recognise. They set the order of the project.

  • Moisture decides the lot, but the reading is lost
  • Cleaning and grinding loss is not recorded
  • Recipes live with one blender
  • Pack codes do not point back to the lot
  • Exporters need documents the floor cannot supply
