Lorry Hire and Freight for Material Delivery Yards
Lorry hire records own and hired lorries against each trip. Hire charges can be passed on to the site where the yard’s terms allow, and they appear on the trip record.
Own lorries and hired ones
Many yards deliver with a mix of their own lorries and lorries hired for the day. Both go out on a challan, and each trip uses one of them. Recording the lorry and the hire charge against the trip keeps the cost beside the delivery it belongs to. Nothing is guessed later.
What is recorded against a trip
Where it appears
The yard supervisor sees own and hired lorries on the daily loading list, with the hire charge carried on the trip. The owner sees loads delivered, with part loads still open.

What the yard decides
Whether hire is charged to a site is a term between the yard and the contractor. The software applies the terms the yard sets and does not decide them. There is no map tracking of lorries. How hire payments to lorry owners are settled is agreed during implementation.
Frequently asked questions
Can a hired lorry be used on a challan?
Yes. The challan names the lorry for the trip, whether it is owned or hired, and a hire charge can be recorded against it.
Is the hire charge added to the contractor’s bill?
Where your terms allow it. The charge is passed to the site on the bill, and the terms are set with the yard.
Does it track lorries on a map?
No. It records which lorry made which trip, and the driver app captures proof of delivery.
Can payments to lorry owners be recorded?
This is agreed during implementation. The scope depends on how the yard settles hire today.
