Fire Safety Technician Job Sheets
A visit is proved by the sheet filled at the building, not by memory. Technicians work from a phone, record what they checked and close with a signature.
The technician’s day
What is recorded at the site
Pressure gauge readings, cylinder weights, hydrant line pressure, pump trial results and panel zone tests are typed in as the walk round goes on. A fault gets a short note, a photograph and a severity you have defined. Serials are scanned rather than copied. The technician can add a cylinder found on site that the register never held.
Closing the visit
What the sheet does not do
- It does not pass or fail a building on anybody’s behalf
- It records readings, and does not take a pressure reading itself
- It needs a person to sign, so unattended visits stay unsigned
- Offline entry depends on the phones your technicians carry
Frequently asked questions
Can a technician work where there is no signal?
Yes, within limits. Entries made in a basement sit on the handset until the network comes back.
Who decides what a sheet asks for?
You do. The checks, readings and photographs on a visit sheet are set to match the format your technicians already fill.
Can photographs be made compulsory?
Yes. A photograph can be required for a logged fault, or for any check you nominate during set up.
Is the client signature legally binding?
That is not for us to say. The sheet holds a signature with the signer’s name and the time of signing, and the standing of that record is for your advisers.
