GST Invoices and Balances for Photography Studios
Invoices are raised from the booking with GST, and receipts are recorded against each one. The balance shows on the booking, and outstanding balances are listed by age.
From booking to invoice
The booking already holds the client, the package, the functions and the payment schedule, so an invoice raised from it does not need the details typed again. GST appears on the invoice, and the rate and treatment are for the studio and its accountant to confirm. Extra revisions can be billed as a line.
What sits on the booking
Who uses it
- Accounts raise invoices and record payments
- Coordinators see the balance before an album is handed over
- Owners read the outstanding list by age
- Freelancer payouts are settled separately, from their own records
Books and the accountant
The studio’s books stay in Tally or wherever the accountant keeps them. There is no built-in Tally link today. The accountant’s export layout is settled with the studio during the first workshop. Filing of GST returns remains with the studio and its accountant, who also decide how each receipt is treated in the books.
Frequently asked questions
Does it take online payments?
No. Payments arrive by UPI, cash, card or transfer, as they do now, and each one is recorded against the booking it pays.
Does it file GST returns?
No. It raises invoices and records receipts. Returns are filed by the studio and its accountant.
Is there a direct link to Tally?
Not built in today. An export is agreed at set-up with the studio’s accountant, and the format is confirmed then.
Can balances already due be brought in at the start?
Yes. Confirmed dates, advances received and balances due are brought across during implementation, and the studio checks them before use.
