Ask a Question in Plain Language, Get an Answer From Your Own Data

Conversational BI lets a manager type a question in ordinary language — how much stock is left of an item, or which accounts have gone quiet — and get an answer drawn from your defined metrics, without opening a dashboard.

A Question Answered in Plain Language

Not every question fits neatly onto a dashboard, and not every user wants to hunt through filters to find one number. This service adds a question-and-answer layer on top of your reporting, so a plain-language question is matched to your data and answered directly, instead of requiring someone to know which screen holds the figure.

What It Answers Well

Specific, Bounded Questions

"What is our current stock value for the Chennai warehouse" or "which customers have not ordered in the last sixty days" — questions with a clear, single figure or list as the answer.

Questions Against Metrics Already Defined

The system answers from the KPIs and data model your business has already agreed, so the figure returned matches what a dashboard would show for the same question.

What It Does Not Replace

Open-Ended Analysis

A question like "why did sales drop" needs a person to investigate causes, not a single figure — conversational BI can surface the underlying numbers to support that investigation, not conclude it.

Undefined Metrics

If a term has never been given a formula, the system is not asked to guess one on the spot — it is scoped to answer from what has already been defined and agreed.

Where It Is Deployed

  • As a search bar built into your existing dashboard, for a quick lookup without navigating menus
  • Through WhatsApp or an internal chat tool, for managers who prefer typing a question over logging into a screen
  • As a voice input on a mobile dashboard, for field staff checking a figure without typing
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can it answer questions in Hindi or a regional language?

Yes, for the languages we configure it to understand — tell us which languages your team actually uses and we build support for those, rather than assuming English alone.

Does it ever make up an answer if it does not know one?

It is built to decline or ask for clarification rather than guess when a question falls outside your defined metrics, since a confidently wrong answer is worse than no answer.

Does this replace our dashboards?

No. Dashboards remain the place to browse and monitor trends; this is a faster path to a specific figure someone already has in mind, and the two work from the same underlying data.

Can it be restricted so people only get answers about data they are allowed to see?

Yes — the same role-based access that controls a dashboard applies here, so a branch manager asking about another branch's figures does not get an answer outside their permission.

What does setting this up require from us?

A defined set of KPIs and data model to answer from — which is why this is usually built after, or alongside, the KPI tracking and dashboard work rather than before it.

How is an answer checked for accuracy before it is trusted?

During setup we test it against a set of known questions with figures you can already verify, and only extend it to new question types once those match consistently.
