Ask whether it separates display, godown and reserved stock, carries fabric and finish codes to the factory, plans deliveries by crew, and tracks balances to closure. Then ask about Tally, data ownership and price. GullySystem demonstrates its Furniture Showroom Management Software with your own models, which is where each answer gets tested.
Questions about stock on the floor and in the godown
Selling a display piece twice is a common showroom complaint. Ask the vendor to show one model in three states: on display, in the godown and reserved for a customer. Then try to sell the reserved one.
Ask, too, whether a salesperson can check stock from a phone on the floor. That saves a call to the godown while the customer waits.
- Can display pieces be marked apart from new stock?
- Is a reserved piece blocked from a second sale?
- Can stock be seen by location across showrooms?
- Are slow-moving items listed on their own?
Questions about custom orders and the factory
Half of what a showroom sells is a promise. Ask how the fabric code, size change and finish move from the order to the factory or supplier. If someone must retype them into a message, one detail will be missed.
Ask whether the salesperson sees a custom item’s status before giving a delivery date. A date given blind is only a hope.
Questions about delivery, balances and complaints
Delivery is where promises are kept or broken. Find out how trips are planned by date, vehicle and crew, and where the signed delivery slip is kept. Fitting should be marked on the same record.
Then follow the money. The advance, part payments and balance should sit against one order. A pending balance list sorted by age matters more than a colourful dashboard.
Last, see how a complaint is logged, assigned to a carpenter and closed.
- Deliveries planned by date, vehicle and crew
- Advance, part payment and balance on one order
- Complaints logged against the original order
Questions the vendor should answer with a no
A careful vendor says plainly what the product does not do. Raise counter barcode scanning, EMI arrangements and supplier dues. Some showroom systems handle the selling side only.
A plain no is useful. It tells you what stays with your accountant or another tool before you sign anything.
Questions about Tally, data and price
Ask how invoices and receipts reach your accountant’s Tally, and whether a direct link costs extra. Ask who owns the customer and order data, and how it is handed over if you leave.
On price, find out what the figure depends on: showrooms, warehouses, modules and staff. See a demo with your own catalogue before any number is discussed.
Showroom software question sheet
A two-column sheet listing every question above, with space for each vendor’s answer. Tick answers shown working in a demo and circle those only promised. Compare vendors on the ticks.

Does showroom software include a barcode counter POS?
Not always, and GullySystem’s showroom product does not. A bill is built from the quotation or the order. Barcode or SKU labels on stock are separate work.
Will it track what we owe our manufacturers?
No, not in the furniture showroom product. Goods from a manufacturer are received into the godown as stock. Purchase bills and supplier dues stay with your accountant.
Do we have to change how we work?
Mostly not. The product is adapted to your order forms, factory orders and delivery routine. Only the steps that cause trouble are changed.
Is it worth it for a small shop?
Perhaps not. A shop selling only from floor stock may manage well with Tally billing and a stock register.
