What Bank Reconciliation Software Connects To

Reconciliation reads bank statement files, gateway settlement reports and UPI and transfer references, and exports to Tally. This page says what depends on each system and what is confirmed during scoping.

Statement files and no bank feed

Bank statements come in as the Excel or CSV file the bank provides, one account at a time. Each bank exports a slightly different file, and yours are read as they come. There is no direct bank feed on its own, since a live feed needs the bank’s own corporate arrangement. Where the client has one, reading it is a separate piece of scoping. The file route needs none of this.

What it connects to

Bank statement files in Excel and CSV

The source of every statement line. Overlapping date ranges do not create duplicate lines.

Payment gateway settlement reports

Read beside the bank credit, so a settlement can be split back into its bills and the charge posted. The report layout depends on the gateway.

UPI and bank transfer references

Used with amount and date when a statement line is paired with a book entry.

Tally

Reconciled entries export to Tally in the client’s ledger names. Whether the link is direct or an export is agreed during scoping.

Operations system

Receipts and payments can come from the client’s operations system, where the books sit in Tally.

Email

Listed as a connection. What is sent by email, and to whom, is agreed during scoping. Nothing is assumed.

What is confirmed during scoping

  • The format of each bank’s statement file
  • Which gateways are in use and how their settlement reports are laid out
  • Whether receipts and payments come from an operations system
  • The ledger names used for the Tally export
  • Whether a direct link to Tally is needed or an export is enough

What stays outside

The software does not log in to net banking, and it does not replace Tally. Where every receipt and payment is already entered in Tally, reconciling there is the simpler route and the better use of the client’s money. This product suits teams whose collections and site payments live in an operations system while the books sit in Tally.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does it connect directly to our bank?

Not on its own. A live feed needs the bank’s own corporate arrangement. Downloading the statement and importing it works with every bank.

Will it read the file from any bank?

Yes. Each bank’s Excel or CSV file is read as it comes, and the column mapping is done once at set-up.

Does it post into Tally?

Reconciled entries export to Tally in your ledger names. Whether a direct link is needed is agreed during scoping.

Which payment gateways are covered?

Settlement reports from the gateway the client uses are read. Which gateways and report layouts are covered is confirmed during scoping.
