Custom Orders and Repairs for Jewellers
Each custom order and repair is recorded with the weight received, the weight returned and the promised date. Repairs stay in a record of their own and are never counted as showroom stock.
Two kinds of work on one screen
A jewellery counter takes in custom orders and customers’ own pieces for repair. Both involve metal that does not belong to the shop’s stock. Both carry a promised date. The orders and repairs module gives each job a record of its own, so the stock book stays clean.
What each job record holds
Orders and the bench
An order that goes to the workshop connects to the karigar account. Metal is issued by weight against that order, and finished pieces are received back against the same order. Advances paid by the customer sit with the order they belong to. They are kept apart from scheme instalments.
What the shop decides
The module records jobs. It does not price a repair or set what the showroom quotes for a custom piece. How a job is numbered and what its slip shows are agreed during set-up.
- Jobs open, listed by promised date
- Customer metal received and not yet returned
- Orders issued to a karigar and still at the bench
- Advances held against each order
Frequently asked questions
Will a repair piece show up in my stock count?
No. The job record holds it, so it is not counted as your stock and the night count against tags is left undisturbed.
Can an order be linked to the metal issued to a karigar?
Yes. Metal is issued against an order, and the pieces that come back are received against the same order.
Where does an advance paid for an order go?
It is held with the order it belongs to. It is separate from the instalments of a savings scheme.
Does the system quote a price for the repair?
No. It records the weights and the promised date. The charge for a repair is set by the shop.
