Rent Rates by Room Type and Block for PGs
Rate management sets rent by room type, sharing and block, changes it for new tenants, and keeps existing agreements on the rate they were signed at. Food is priced separately.
Rates held on the structure
Rent belongs to the room type and the block, not to a note in a diary. A bed takes its rate from there when a tenant is allotted to it.
Raising rent for new admissions only
When you decide that new admissions pay more, the new rate applies from that date onward. Tenants already living there stay on the rate they signed for until their agreement comes up for renewal. The record shows both.
No seasonal pricing
Nothing here raises rent when colleges reopen or lowers it to fill beds. You set the rates and change them when you decide to. Pricing stays with the owner.
Frequently asked questions
Can one tenant have a rent nobody else has?
Yes. A concession for a long-staying tenant is set on that bed, and the bill follows it without anyone adjusting the figure each month.
If we raise rates, do old bills change?
No. Bills already raised stay as they were, and the new rate applies from the date you set.
Do we charge extra for air conditioning?
If you do, it goes on the room type or as a line on the bill. Many PGs price AC rooms as their own sharing type, which keeps the rent list short.
