What the gate records
When a parent asks
A parent may ring to ask whether a cousin visited on Saturday. Search the tenant and read the visits. It takes a couple of minutes, and the answer comes from the register and not from what the watchman remembers.
A register, not a security system
The module does not open a gate, read a face or stop anybody walking in. The watchman does that. What changes is only the register. It becomes searchable by tenant, by date and by phone number, when someone needs an answer and cannot page through forty leaves of a notebook.
Frequently asked questions
Can the watchman enter this on a phone?
Yes. An ordinary Android phone at the gate is enough, and nothing needs installing.
Can we see every visitor a tenant had this month?
Yes, on her record. Parents ask for it fairly often, and so occasionally does a police station.
What about delivery staff and the milk vendor?
Most PGs do not log them, since the register would fill with routine entries. Log visitors who come inside the building and leave the gate to the watchman.
Can we look up a visitor by phone number?
Yes. That search helps when a man has come twice and nobody at the gate can place him.
