User Acceptance Testing Support

User acceptance testing is run by the people who will actually use the software, not by testers, so it needs different preparation. GullySystem writes the script, sets up the data and sits with your staff while they test.

Why UAT Fails Without Support

Handed a working build and asked to test it, business users open the screens they already know and click through their usual day, which rarely finds anything new. Or they are given no structure at all, spend an afternoon confused about what they are supposed to be checking, and sign off out of fatigue rather than confidence. Acceptance testing needs a script written for a non-technical reader and someone present to keep it on track.

What We Prepare Before the Session

The UAT Script

Business scenarios written in plain language against the agreed requirements, so a department user knows exactly what to try and what result to expect.

Realistic Test Data

Records that resemble what the department actually works with, including the awkward cases that plain demo data never includes.

A Ready Environment

A stable build with the right accounts and permissions already set up, so the session is not lost to access problems.

During and After the Session

  • We sit with your users while they work through the script, answering process questions without steering the outcome
  • Findings are recorded in the same defect format as the rest of testing — steps, evidence, severity — instead of loose comments
  • Disagreements between what a user expected and what the requirement actually says are flagged for a decision rather than argued informally
  • A summary of what passed, what failed and what remains open is produced for whoever is deciding whether to accept the release

An Accounts Department Approving a New Billing Module, as an Example

An accounts team is asked to approve a new billing module before it replaces their existing process. The script walks them through raising an invoice with a part payment, applying a credit note, and closing a month-end that includes one cancelled and one revised invoice — the situations the accounts team lives with monthly, rather than the clean single-invoice example a demo usually shows.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Who actually performs the testing during UAT?

Your own business users — the people who will use the software day to day. Our role is to prepare the script and data, sit with them during the session, and record what they find, not to test on their behalf, since the point of UAT is their judgement of fitness for use.

How is this different from the functional testing you already did?

Functional testing checks whether the software matches the written requirement, run by testers against test cases. UAT checks whether the software is actually fit for how the business intends to use it, run by the people who will use it, and can surface disagreements about what the requirement meant in the first place.

What happens when a business user finds something that is not actually a defect?

It is recorded and reviewed against the agreed requirement rather than dismissed on the spot. Sometimes it reveals a genuine defect, sometimes a requirement that needs clarifying, and sometimes a preference outside the agreed scope — the distinction is documented so the decision is deliberate, not lost in conversation.

What drives the cost of UAT support?

How many departments and scenarios are involved, how much test data needs to be specially prepared, and how many sessions are needed to work through the script with the relevant users.

What decides how long UAT takes?

Mostly the availability of the business users themselves, since sessions have to fit around their normal work, along with how many scenarios the script covers and how quickly any findings are resolved before sign-off.

What do you need from us to prepare a UAT script?

The agreed requirements or specification, access to the department users who will test, and a stable build with the right accounts already provisioned for each role being tested.
