Associate Backend Engineer

You will design and build the APIs, data models and integrations behind our client platforms. Much of our work is joining systems that were never meant to talk to each other, so you will spend real time on data shape and failure handling, not just CRUD.

What you will do

• ✓Build and maintain REST APIs in Node.js or PHP, with tests that run in CI.
• ✓Model data in PostgreSQL or MySQL and write queries that stay fast as tables grow.
• ✓Integrate third-party services — payment gateways, SMS and email providers, government and partner APIs.
• ✓Handle the unglamorous parts properly: retries, idempotency, background jobs, and useful logs.
• ✓Help debug production issues and write up what actually went wrong.

What we are looking for

• ✓One to three years building server-side applications in Node.js, PHP, Python or similar.
• ✓Confident with SQL — joins, indexes, and why a query is slow.
• ✓You understand HTTP properly: status codes, headers, auth, and what makes an API pleasant to consume.
• ✓Familiar with Git, branches and code review.
• ✓Nice to have: message queues, Docker, or having kept something running in production.
