It is the 28th. Your billing engineer is copying last month’s figures into this month’s sheet, hoping the client’s engineer reads a deduction the same way he does.

Quantities measured this period go in against the stage and its rate. The bill is built from those lines rather than typed over the last one. Previous and cumulative figures come from the bills already raised on that site, so the arithmetic that usually goes wrong is not done by hand.

Advance recovery
Whatever instalment of the advance is due back comes off this bill, in the pattern set on the work order. Nobody has to remember which instalment it was.
Retention held
A slice is held at the rate you agreed, and it moves to the retention list rather than into the payable figure.
Net payable, and who certified
The payment certificate prints the certified amount, the date and the name of the person who certified it. That page is what travels to the client’s office.
After it leaves the office
A bill that has gone out still has a life.

Does it work for bills we raise and bills we certify?
Both. A contractor raises his running bills against a work order on your site. Where you are the one certifying, the claimed and certified figures sit side by side with the difference visible.
Can the bill format match what our client accepts?
The format follows what your clients already sign. Item descriptions, deduction lines and the numbering are yours, and all of it is settled before the first site is loaded.
Will it stop a measurement dispute?
No. A contractor with his own pocket diary will still disagree with your engineer. Now the measurement sits on a date against a stage, so the argument runs over a record instead of two memories.
