Load and Performance Testing

Before a release goes out, we check whether it holds up when several people use it at once, not only when one tester clicks through it alone. GullySystem runs this ahead of the season or launch that will stress it.

What This Checks and What It Does Not

This is a functional-release check: does the software behave correctly and respond acceptably when a realistic number of people use it together, run before a launch or a known busy period. It is not full capacity engineering — deep query tuning, infrastructure scaling and sustained-traffic modelling belong to a dedicated performance engineering exercise, which we will point you to separately if that is what your situation actually needs.

  • A number of users concurrently working through your most important journey, not just visiting the homepage
  • The specific hour your business already knows is busiest, replayed against a copy of the release
  • Multiple people acting on the same record at once, such as several buyers viewing the same limited stock
  • A sudden spike rather than a gradual climb, since real launches rarely ramp up politely

A College Admissions Portal, as an Example

A college opening online admissions has one morning each year when every applicant tries to submit at once. Before that morning, the submission and payment flow is put under a simulated version of that same concurrent load on a copy of the release, so a queue-related failure — two applicants claiming the last seat in a quota at the same instant — is found on a rehearsal, not on the one day it cannot be redone.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as your performance engineering service?

No. This is a pass/fail check run inside a normal QA cycle before a release or a known busy period. Performance engineering is a deeper, standalone exercise that measures, tunes and re-architects for sustained load over time. We recommend that separately when a load test result points to a genuine capacity limit rather than a release-specific risk.

How many concurrent users do you test for?

A number based on your own traffic history and the event you are preparing for — a typical morning, a known peak day, an admissions or sale window — rather than an arbitrary round figure, agreed with you before the run.

Will this run against our live production system?

No. Load is simulated against a copy of the release in a staging or test environment built to resemble production, so the exercise itself cannot disrupt real customers or real transactions.

What drives the cost of a load-testing pass?

How many journeys are simulated concurrently, how close the test environment needs to match production to be meaningful, and how many rounds of testing are needed as fixes are applied.

What decides how long a load-testing pass takes?

How much environment preparation is needed to mirror production, how many scenarios are simulated, and how quickly a bottleneck found in one run can be addressed before the next round.

What do you need from us to run a load test?

A release candidate on an environment sized close to production, a realistic estimate of expected concurrent usage for the event in question, and agreement on the response-time and error-rate target that counts as a pass.
