Marked out to the event

Handis, cauldrons, chafing dishes, gas bhattis, counters, tables and buckets are recorded with the numbers that left the store, against the function they went to.

Ticked back on return

The supervisor counts items in from his phone at the hall or at the store the next morning. What comes back is recorded against what went out.

Short, damaged or left at the hall

Each is a separate case. A dented handi is marked for repair, and a handi left behind is marked for collection.

Hired items and their owner

Items taken on hire from another caterer or a rental shop are listed with the date they must go back and the charge if they do not.

The list that keeps its own count

Anything not back stays on a list with the date it went out and the event it went to.

Limits

The counting is manual

Someone physically counts what goes into the van and what comes out of it. There are no tags and no scanning. A store where nobody counts will lose vessels with or without software.

It does not assign blame

The record shows the event and the date an item went missing. Whether it was left at the hall or taken is a matter for the supervisor.

Can the supervisor record this from the hall?

Yes, on his phone, at whatever hour the van is loaded. It takes a couple of minutes, and that moment gives the most accurate count.

Can we see what is free before taking a second booking?

Yes. What is out, what is in the store and what is promised to a confirmed event shows on that date.

What about vessels lent to another caterer?

They go out against that caterer’s name instead of an event, with a return date. The same list tracks them.
