The advisor walks into the bay to find out
A customer wants an update. The advisor leaves the desk, walks into the workshop, finds the mechanic and asks, and in those four minutes two more calls came in. It happens all morning, which is why nobody at the counter ever finishes anything.
How work is handed out
One card, one or more mechanics
A big job can carry two men. A quick oil change carries one. Both are recorded on the card, not shouted across the floor.
An advisor who owns it
Every job card has one advisor answerable for it. The customer who rings gets the person who knows, not whoever picked up.
The mechanic’s own screen
He logs in and sees the cards he is on, with the complaints, the inspection notes and the parts issued to each.
Reassigned when the day changes
Someone goes on leave or a job runs long. The card moves to another mechanic and the change is on the record.
Read from the counter
Vehicles in the garage, each with its status and the people on it. That is the answer to the only question customers ask.
What it does not do
This is an assignment record, not a scheduling engine. It will not decide who should get the next car, balance a bay or calculate a mechanic’s efficiency from the clock.

Frequently asked questions
Does every mechanic need a login?
No. Small workshops assign mechanics on the card and let the advisor update the status. Logins make sense once your men are comfortable reading a job card on a phone.
Can it work out incentive on jobs done?
It shows which cards each mechanic was on and what was billed. Working out an incentive from that is your calculation, and there is no payroll built in.
What if a job moves between two mechanics?
Both can stay on the card, or the first is removed and the second added. Either way, the card holds who did the work rather than who was there at the end.
