Wire and Cable E-commerce & Length Stock Software

This solution holds cable stock in length rather than in units, so every cut reduces what remains. Coils and cut metres have their own prices, lots are recorded and returnable drums are counted. A packaged commerce system carries the store.

Product status

Configured implementation on a commerce platform chosen in discovery

A packaged commerce system holds the store, with a length-based stock model and a drum record added to it. No existing GullySystem product stocks goods by length.

There is no published price, free trial or live demo for this solution. Scope and cost are settled in a written proposal after discovery.

Purpose and users

The aim is stock figures that stay true after cutting. A coil is a container of metres, and the record follows the metres, so a short piece is visible and a lost one is noticed.

It does not test cable or certify it. It records the lot and any documents the maker supplies, and it shows them to the buyer who asks.

Modules

What is in the system.

Length stock

Metres per coil and drum, reduced by each cut.

Pricing by coil and metre

Two rate types with a minimum cut length, so a very short piece is not sold below cost.

Lot record

Lot or batch tied to receipts and orders.

Drum register

Drums out with customers, with dates.

Workflows

How the work runs through it.

Order to cut

A buyer orders metres. The counter cuts them, and the remaining length is updated on the coil’s record as the cut is entered.

Drum out and back

A drum goes to a site and is counted as outstanding until the customer sends it back to the counter.

Catalogue and product data

What each product record holds.

Size and core fields

Conductor size, cores, insulation and colour as data.

Common questions

Questions about this solution.

Does an existing product stock cable by length?

No. The length model is configured and added to a store; nothing here is ready-made.

Can we start with a few sizes?

Yes. A few sizes show whether the length model holds before more are loaded.

Does it track drums with customers?

Yes, with a return date for each drum and a list of the ones that are overdue.
