Why a handwritten register falls short

A register asks a supervisor to note the temperature twice a shift. Entries are sometimes written together later. The sheet looks complete but cannot show a customer or insurer what the chamber did. Recorded history can.

Ways of reading the history

Hour, shift, day or month

The same readings at the grain you want. A shift supervisor looks at last night, and a plant head looks at March against February. Both open the same record.

Two things side by side

Two machines on one chart, or one machine two months apart. A slow drift often shows in that comparison.

Condition against a consignment

The history for a batch, a load or a date, which is what customers and insurance assessors ask for when something has gone wrong with a consignment. It can be exported.

Raw readings out

Any period downloads as a file or goes over an API into your own tools. Quality heads and consultants usually ask for this. Nothing is locked behind the charts.

What is kept, and for how long

Retention is agreed before the first device is fitted.

Frequently asked questions

Is the history kept forever?

No. Full-detail readings are kept for the period you agree, and older data is usually held as summaries. Retention is set before the first device is fitted.

Can we bring in readings we already have?

Yes, for exports from an older logger or a spreadsheet, which load as history with their timestamps. Handwritten registers are a judgement call, and typing in years of a logbook may not be worth the effort.

Who does the analysis?

Whoever does it today: your quality head, a consultant or an engineer with a spreadsheet. Readings export raw so they are not tied to the built-in charts.
