Three Revisions Included, Seven Asked For

Each change costs the designer half a day. None of them were counted, so asking to be paid for the seventh now looks like a fight over money, two weeks before the album is due.

Counting is not being difficult

Families ask for changes because they care about the album, and most of them would pay for extra work if anybody had told them there was a limit. The count is what makes that conversation possible without it turning personal.

How a proof round works

The proof, as a version

Thirty spreads sent for approval on a date. Version two is not the same file as version one, and both stay on the booking.

Remarks kept with it

What the family asked to change, written against the version it applies to. The designer works from that instead of from four voice notes.

Counted against the package

Revision two of three. Everybody can see the number, including the coordinator taking the call on a Sunday evening.

Extra revisions priced

Beyond what the package included, the extra work can go on the invoice as a line. It is a number now, not a grievance.

What the studio can see

One of these lists will change how you write next season’s packages.

  • Revisions used against those included, booking by booking
  • Proofs sent and not yet approved
  • Albums waiting on a family, not on your designer
  • Which packages run over on revisions every time
  • The approval that finally came, with its date
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does the client approve inside the software?

The proof goes out the way you send proofs today, and the approval is recorded when it comes back. There is no client login. A mother of the bride is not going to open a portal.

Can we allow extra revisions without charging?

Of course, and you often should. The count exists so that it is a decision rather than something nobody noticed. Waiving a charge and never knowing about it are different things.

What counts as one revision?

Whatever you decide it is, agreed when your packages are set up. Counting a round of remarks as one, however many spreads it touches, is the simplest rule to hold to.
