ML Model Training, Testing and Deployment
ML model training and deployment covers the path from labelled examples to a prediction your software can call. Models are tested on unseen periods and served behind an endpoint, with retraining scheduled.
Labelling is the slow part
A model learns from examples where the answer is already known: which invoices ran late, which enquiries converted, which parts came back under warranty. Those labels rarely sit in a column. Somebody who knows the work has to mark a few hundred records. This stage decides everything that follows.
What gets delivered
Batch or live
Many business predictions can run overnight. A risk score against the next day’s delivery list or a lapse score refreshed weekly suits batch, which is simpler to run. Live prediction is for the moment of decision, such as scoring an enquiry during a call. Where batch will do, batch is the better choice.
Frequently asked questions
Can we use our own dataset for training?
Yes, and you should, because a model trained on somebody else’s data will not reflect your customers or your products. Your data stays in your accounts throughout.
How do we get at the predictions?
Either through an API call from your application, or as a column written back into your database for reports and lists to use. The second is often easier to adopt.
What happens when our data changes?
Scheduled retraining picks up the new pattern, and monitoring compares recent accuracy against the original. A sharp fall triggers a review and not a silent retrain.
Does this have to run in the cloud?
No. Smaller models run on your own server, which suits businesses that keep everything in-house. The trade-off is that you maintain the hardware and the updates.
Tell us what you need.
Share your requirements and one of our engineers will come back to you within one business day.
What happens after you share your requirements
- A senior engineer reads your answers. Nobody phones first.
- Within one business day you get a written note: what we understood, what we would start with, and the questions we still have.
- If it fits, a proposal follows with the order of work, what we need from you and what you receive at each step.
- No call is booked and nothing is paid until you have read the note. Your details stay with us.
