Two Functions on One Saturday
A wedding lunch in Rajajinagar and a reception dinner off Mysore Road. Same day, two vans, one head cook promised to both. Both were on the order book, side by side, from the day the second one was taken.
What an order carries
Date, venue and session
Breakfast, lunch, reception or dinner, at a named hall with its address and the time you must be set up by. The van driver needs that, and so does the supervisor.
The count, as it stands today
The number the family gave at booking, and the number it becomes as the date nears. Both are kept, because one is what you quoted and the other is what you cook.
Who the order belongs to
The family, the office or the hall that referred it, with the person who will actually answer his phone on the morning. Often that is a brother, not the father who booked.
Everything hanging off it
The menu, the costing, the roster, the vessels and the settlement all sit on the event. One place to open when anybody asks anything.
The week seen at once
Two functions on one day stop being a surprise discovered on Thursday.
- Every event of the week by date and session, side by side
- Enquiries held against a date but not yet confirmed
- Functions where the count has moved since the quotation
- Events with no advance received, before the purchase list goes out
What it does not decide
Taking the second order is your call
The order book shows what is already on that Saturday, including the cooks and vessels already promised. Whether you can manage another function is a judgement your owner makes, and no software should make it for him.
It is not a hall booking system
If you also let out a hall, that is a different kind of record. This runs the catering order, the food and the staff, and the hall side is a separate conversation.
Frequently asked questions
Can we hold a date before the family confirms?
Yes, as a tentative event. It shows on the week with its own mark, and the vessels and cooks are not promised until it is confirmed.
What about a function that runs over three days?
Each session is its own line under one order, with its own menu and count. The mehendi lunch and the reception dinner are cooked differently and priced differently.
Can the supervisor see only his own events?
Yes. The order desk, the head cook, the supervisor and accounts each see their own screens, and costing stays with the people you choose.
