Gym Trainer Pay and Commission
Commission for a trainer is calculated from completed sessions, classes taken and plans the trainer sold. The rules are the ones the gym pays by today, so month end matches what trainers expect.
What counts toward a trainer’s pay
Shifts and fixed pay
Many gyms pay trainers a fixed monthly sum with commission on top. Shifts and attendance are held on the trainer’s record, so the fixed part and the variable part are shown side by side. Leave and absence are marked by the manager, and the figures go to the person who prepares the salary.
What trainers see
Each trainer opens a page with the sessions done this month, the commission earned so far and the clients with sessions still left. Owners see the total payable by trainer. A disagreement about a count is settled from the session record, where each session has a date and a client against it.
What the client decides
- The rate per session for each pack and whether it differs by trainer grade
- Whether commission is paid on sign-ups, and for how many months
- How leave and absence affect the fixed pay
- Whether the figures go to payroll as a sheet or are entered by hand
Frequently asked questions
Does it run payroll and deduct tax?
No. It prepares commission and attendance figures for whoever runs salary. Statutory deductions are a matter for the gym’s accountant.
Can rates differ between senior and junior trainers?
Yes. Rates are set per trainer or per grade, and our team changes them on request.
Can a trainer see another trainer’s commission?
That is set with the owner. The usual view for a trainer is only their own sessions and earnings.
What if a session was marked done by mistake?
A manager can reverse it. The change is logged against the user who made it, and the count and commission update.
