Local Rules and Controlled Outputs for Plant Panels
Rules run on the gateway at the site and act on outputs there, such as a pump, a lamp and hooter or an interlock. Manual override stays at the panel, and every action is logged.
Where the rules run
Local rules sit on the gateway at the site and not in the cloud. A rule that stops a pump at a set level acts on the reading the gateway has just taken without waiting for a server to reply. The internet is not part of that path. Connectivity is chosen per site, and the rules run on the gateway whichever link is used.
What a local rule can do
Fitting, wiring and permission
Outputs are wired by an electrician who works at your site, to points agreed in the written plan that follows the site visit and the walk through the panels. Reading from PLCs and drives is done without disturbing the control system. Any output that acts on a machine is agreed with you during scoping. Where a machine is under warranty or AMC, the supplier’s permission comes first.
What the client decides
- Which outputs the gateway may switch, and which stay with the operator
- The level, duration and condition that trigger each action
- Whether a separate hard-wired safeguard remains in place
- Who reviews the action log at handover
Frequently asked questions
Does it keep switching outputs when the internet is down?
Yes. The rules sit on the gateway, so the hooter, the lamp and an interlock still act without a network. Alerts on WhatsApp and SMS arrive after the link returns.
Can an operator stop a rule from acting?
Yes. Manual override stays at the panel. The action is recorded, so the shift review shows when control was taken back.
Is this a certified safety system?
No. It is a monitoring layer with local actions. Whether a separate safeguard is required on a machine is for your engineers and the machine supplier to decide.
Who agrees which outputs the gateway controls?
Your maintenance team and supervisors, with the supplier where a machine is under warranty or AMC. The list is written down before any output is wired.

What happens after you share your requirements
- A senior engineer reads your answers. Nobody phones first.
- Within one business day you get a written note: what we understood, what we would start with, and the questions we still have.
- If it fits, a proposal follows with the order of work, what we need from you and what you receive at each step.
- No call is booked and nothing is paid until you have read the note. Your details stay with us.
