Pieces That Left the Showcase on Trust
Two bangles went home with a regular customer so the family could decide. That is normal in this trade. What is not normal is nobody being able to say, three weeks later, which two and with whom.
Not sold, not in the showcase, not written down
A senior customer asked to take a set home before a wedding. The owner agreed, because of course he did. The salesperson who handed it over is on leave, the tray shows a gap, and the night count is short by two pieces nobody can name.
What is recorded when a piece goes out
Which tags, and to whom
The exact pieces with their weights, against a customer found by phone number. Not a description, the tags.
Who sent them
The salesperson who released the pieces is on the record. Responsibility has a name on it from the start.
A date they are due back
Set when they leave, according to whatever limit you allow. Most showrooms use a week.
Overdue at the top
The list sorts by what has been out longest. That is the call somebody has to make today.
Returned or billed
Pieces come back to the showcase, or the ones she kept become a bill. The rest close on the same entry.
Counted, even while away
A piece on approval is still yours, so it stays in the stock value and in the count, marked as being out. The night tally then agrees without anybody remembering anything.
- Pieces out on approval, oldest first
- Approvals by salesperson and by customer
- Sets that went out and came back more than once
- Weight and value currently outside the showroom
Frequently asked questions
Can we stop pieces going out beyond a limit?
You can set a limit on value or on days, and the screen will flag it. Releasing anyway is the owner’s decision, and that release is recorded with his name.
Will it bring an overdue piece back?
No. Somebody still has to ring the customer. The call now happens on day eight instead of at the yearly count, and the person making it knows exactly what to ask for.
Can a repair piece be tracked the same way?
Repairs have their own record, with weight in and weight out and the promised date. A customer’s repair piece is never counted as your stock, which matters at the yearly close.
