Every Tag Knows Its Weight and Its Place
A chain is not a line in a stock book. It is eighteen point six four grams at 22 karat, with a tag on it, and it is either in the showcase or it is somewhere else. Both facts live on the same record.
The night count that ran past midnight
Tags are read out, weights are called back, and one line refuses to agree. Everybody stays. It is usually a piece lying in the repair drawer, or a ring that went to the hallmarking centre on Tuesday and that nobody wrote down.
What a tag carries
Four weights, not one
Gross weight, stone weight and net weight, with purity against each. Billing works from the net, and nobody recalculates it at the counter.
Making rate on the piece
A rate per gram, a flat amount or a share of metal value, set on the tag itself. The salesperson quotes what the owner decided.
The HUID that came back
Stored against the tag once the piece returns from the centre, so the mark on the jewellery and the record agree.
Where the piece is now
Showcase, bench, hallmarking centre or out on approval. Stock is not only what you can see through the glass.
Printed and read at the counter
Barcode or RFID tags are printed from the same record and read at billing. The weight is not typed in a second time.
Counting, by section
A count can be taken section by section instead of shutting the shop for a night.
- Stock by weight, purity and location
- Pieces out of the showcase, with who has them
- Old tags, stock and values brought across before the first bill
- Differences from the physical count, saved with a name against them
Frequently asked questions
Can we keep silver and gold in one stock book?
Yes. Silver is held by weight and purity like gold, with its own rate. A showroom with a silver section runs both in one book rather than two.
Does it work with our weighing scale?
Electronic scales are connected at the counter during set-up and tested with your staff watching. Which models work is checked on your hardware, not promised in advance.
Will it stop stock going missing?
No software does that. What it does is make every piece answerable to a name and a place, so a difference shows up the same week rather than at the yearly count.
