Private and Duet Sessions in Pilates Studios

Private and duet sessions are booked against one instructor and one apparatus, outside the group timetable. Each carries its own price, session notes and pack deduction, so one-to-one work is recorded properly.

What a private session holds

A private is one client with one instructor. A duet is two clients sharing the hour, often a pair who train together.

Instructor and apparatus

The session reserves the instructor and the reformer or cadillac she will use, so a group class cannot take the same machine.

Price and pack

Privates are priced apart from classes. A client may pay per session or draw from a private pack, and the system keeps the two balances separate.

Session notes

The instructor records what was worked on, any limits and what to do next time. The next instructor sees those notes.

Duet partners

Two clients are linked to one session. Each has her own attendance, and each can use her own pack or pay her half.

Instructor availability

An instructor lists the hours she takes privates. The desk books inside those hours. Her group classes and her privates sit on one calendar, so she is never booked twice.

Connection to payouts

Many studios pay an instructor differently for a private than for a group class. The session type travels to the payout record. At month end the privates taught are counted apart from the classes.

What the studio decides

Private pricing, duet rules and how much notice a private needs are the studio’s to set. The system holds notes, not treatment advice. Clinical rehabilitation sits outside this product.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can a duet be split between two packs?

Yes. Each client’s share is taken from her own pack, or billed to her separately when she has none.

Can a private be booked at the cadillac only?

Yes. The apparatus is chosen at booking, and it is held for that hour so a class cannot use it.

Who can read private session notes?

The instructor who wrote them and those the owner allows. Each role’s access is decided in the scoping talks.

Is rehabilitation planning included?

No. The product records sessions and notes. Rehabilitation plans for clients under a physiotherapist belong in the physiotherapist’s own records.
