Proof That the Night Round Actually Happened

The field officer logs each visit from the site itself. Time, place and a remark. A week later, the sites he has not reached are a list rather than a feeling.

He says he covered three sites

After midnight the field officer takes his bike to three sites. He says so the next morning, and you believe him. Then the client asks whether anybody checked his gate on Saturday night, and there is nothing to show him.

What a visit carries

Logged where he is standing

Time and location come from the phone at the gate, so a visit is a visit.

The guard he found

Whether the man on the post was alert, in uniform and where he should have been, in the officer’s own words.

A remark worth reading

A bulb out at the rear gate, a torn register, a resident complaint. Short notes are more use than a tick.

An incident, where there is one

Anything needing a proper record moves straight into the incident screen from the same visit.

What operations reads on Monday

  • Visits by officer, by site and by night
  • Sites not visited this week, in one list
  • Remarks nobody has acted on yet
  • Posts where the guard was found absent during a check
  • The site’s own visit history, when a client asks for it
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do we know which sites were missed?

The visit log is read against your site list, so anything with no visit this week shows as a blank line. Which sites need a nightly round and which need a weekly one is still your call.

Does the officer need a separate app?

No. The same browser screen he uses for attendance carries the visit, which matters on a night round with one bar of battery.

Can it tell us whether he really went inside the premises?

No. It records the time and the place the entry was made, and that is some distance from proving what a man did for the twenty minutes he was there. Supervision still needs a person who knows his officers.

Can the client see the night checks?

His login shows attendance, open posts and incidents at his site. A night check is better sent to him when he asks than left for him to hunt through.
