Software Solutions for Video Game Sellers

A game can be a boxed disc, a digital code or both, for one of several platforms and regions, on a release date. Sellers online need platform and region fields, pre-orders that deliver on the day, a secure path for codes and a way to trade in used discs.

At a glance

Sell discs and digital codes by platform, edition and release day.

A game for the wrong console is a return, and a digital code that has been copied cannot be taken back. The software has to prevent both before checkout.

Businesses and operating models

Game stores

A store sells new and used discs, with trade-ins at the counter and a growing digital range.

Digital key sellers

A seller delivers codes by email or account page and depends on a code supply and controls against fraud.

Collector and import sellers

A seller handles limited editions and imports with their own regions and stock limits.

How an order moves

The workflow for video games.

  1. 1

    Title set up by platform

A title is created once and then listed per platform, region, edition and format.

  2. 2

    Pre-order opened

Pre-orders are taken against a release date, with discs reserved and codes promised.

  3. 3

    Code assigned on payment

After payment clears, one code is chosen from stock, sent by the agreed route and logged.

  4. 4

    Disc packed and sent

A disc is scanned, packed and shipped on the release date or when it arrives.

  5. 5

    Used disc traded in

A used disc is checked, valued and credited, then regraded and relisted as pre-owned.

Where it breaks

The challenges, and what they cost.

Wrong platform bought

A buyer picks a console version of a game for a different console.

Codes copied or resold

A code sent in an email is used by someone else, and the buyer says it never arrived.

Release day overload

A big title’s pre-orders all become deliverable at once and delivery fails.

Used discs are scratched

A used disc is accepted and then does not read.

Requirements to assess

What is specific to this trade.

These are requirements we would confirm in discovery. They describe what the solution may need to handle. They are not features that already exist.

  • Platform, region and edition on every item
  • Codes stored in a restricted vault and released once per paid order
  • A used disc grading step with a read test
Recommended modules

What we would build for video games.

Chosen from the commerce capabilities this business needs, not a list of everything.

Platform and region catalogue

Hold platform, region, edition, format and rating.

Code vault and delivery log

Store codes and record who received them.

Release-day control

Make orders deliverable on the release date.

Basket platform check

Block a basket that mixes platforms.

Used disc grading

Check and grade used discs, with a read test.

Users and permissions

Who works in the system, and what each can do.

Catalogue planner

Sets up titles and release dates.

Code stock manager

Loads codes and watches stock.

Trade-in desk

Tests and values used discs.

Integrations

What it would connect to.

An integration is confirmed only after its API, access and scope are checked. A connection that updates on a schedule is described as scheduled, not real-time.

  • Code supplier files, or an API where a supplier offers one
  • Shop stock and invoices from the retail software, where a shop exists
  • A payment gateway, with codes sent only after payment clears
Implementation

How the work runs, and what we need from you.

What you provide

  • Your title list with platforms, regions and editions
  • Your code suppliers and how codes arrive
  • How you value and test used discs

Catalogue before codes

Titles, platforms and release dates go first, and the code vault follows.

Test the delivery path

A test batch of dummy codes is used to rehearse delivery before any real code is stored.

Deliverables

What you receive.

  • A title and platform catalogue
  • A pre-order and release-day flow
  • A code vault and delivery log
  • A used disc trade-in flow
Measurement

How progress is judged.

Measures are agreed against your own baseline. We do not promise a result in advance.

  • Wrong-platform returns, counted
  • Disputed codes answered from the delivery log
India and international

Selling at home and abroad.

Titles are tied to regions, platforms and age ratings that differ by market, and digital code rules vary. Each listing states the region and platform, and your adviser says what each market allows.

The wider requirements for gaming are on the Gaming page.

Suitable software

Video Games E-commerce & Digital Code Software

Custom software solution

No existing GullySystem product keeps stocks of digital game codes with delivery logs and platform rules, so it is built from nothing for each seller. A shop selling consoles can keep its serials and bills with the retail product.

Common questions

Questions about video games e-commerce.

Can it prove a code was delivered?

It records when and where a code was sent. It cannot prove who used it afterwards.

Can it check that a code is valid?

No. Only the supplier or platform holder can. The system stores what the supplier says.

Does it show the game’s age rating?

It shows the rating the publisher supplies. What a market requires is checked by your adviser.
