CCTV Site Surveys and Camera Positions
A survey is where a CCTV job really starts. This module holds what the technician marked at the premises, so the quotation and the installation team work from one sheet.
What the survey records
The sheet is filled at the premises, position by position, while the technician is still standing there.
Who uses the survey
How it reaches the next step
An approved survey becomes the basis of the quotation, and the counted positions, cable metres and accessories carry across without retyping. When the customer accepts, the job card opens with those positions already listed, and the store issues material against them. A revised survey after a second visit is kept beside the first. Both versions stay readable.
What a survey does not settle
- The final price, which your office sets from its own rate list
- Whether the customer’s broadband can carry remote viewing at the premises
- Permission to drill or lay conduit in a rented building
- The brands you choose to quote for cameras and recorders
Frequently asked questions
Can a survey be filled in without network at the site?
Yes. The sheet is filled on the handset and uploaded when the technician finds a signal.
Are photographs stored against the site?
Yes. Survey pictures stay with the site record, so a visit two years later can compare what is on the wall.
What happens when the customer changes the camera count?
The survey is revised and the earlier version is kept. The quotation is rebuilt from the revised positions.
Who may close a survey?
Your office decides which technicians can close one. Until it is closed, positions can still be added or removed.
