Old Appliance Exchange Records for Dealers
An old fridge or television taken in against a new sale needs a value and a record. This module keeps both and follows the used set until it leaves the shop.
What an exchange entry holds
How an exchange sits on the sale
The counter agrees a value while the buyer is still in the shop, and the deduction prints on the new invoice. The used set is received against that bill, so the two can be read together afterwards. A brand exchange offer is recorded apart from a value the showroom itself allows, because one is funded by the maker and the other comes out of your margin. Used sets in the godown show as a count.
Who handles it
What the dealer decides
- How an old set is valued and who may approve the figure
- Which brand exchange offers are recorded on their own
- Whether used sets are resold, repaired or scrapped
- Who may close a used set out of the godown
What the module does not decide
It will not value a used appliance for you. The figure is yours. The record simply carries a name and a date against it, so a question months later can be answered without anyone relying on memory. How an exchange is treated for tax belongs with the dealer’s accountant or advisor. Scrap disposal is arranged by the showroom itself.
Frequently asked questions
Can an exchange go on the same bill as the new set?
Yes. The deduction prints on that invoice, and the used set is received against it.
Does a brand exchange offer look different?
Yes. It is recorded apart from a value the showroom allows out of its own margin.
What happens to a used set that is scrapped?
The closing entry names the scrap dealer and the date, and the set leaves the used count.
Is a photograph of the old set kept?
It can be attached if you want one. Whether staff do that in practice is your call.
