Muster filled in at month end

A muster filled in once the month is over depends on memory and a torn notebook. The second week of June cannot be reconstructed. A supervisor may be sure about four days that the machine has no record of. Marking through the month avoids that.

How the month is marked

Shifts planned ahead

Early, general and night shifts are rostered before the week starts, so cover is arranged in advance and not at the last minute.

Punched at the gate

Office staff punch on the machine you already own. Most machines export a file, and many allow a direct connection.

Marked at site, with a location

A supervisor marks a gang from where the work is, and the entry carries the place it was marked from.

Corrections that leave a trail

If somebody forgot to punch, HR fixes it. The correction keeps the name of whoever made it, and the reason.

Frequently asked questions

Does it calculate salary from this?

No. It prepares the month and hands it over. Days present, overtime hours, approved leave and unpaid absence go to payroll, whether in software you own or at your consultant’s office.

Will it work with our biometric machine?

It depends on the model. Yours is checked at set-up, and if it is too old to be worth connecting, we say so and do not build a workaround nobody will maintain.

How is a night shift crossing midnight counted?

Against the shift and not the calendar date. A worker who starts at ten and leaves at six has completed one night duty, and hours past the shift count as overtime.

Can a supervisor mark attendance for people without phones?

Yes, and on many sites that is how it runs. The supervisor marks the gang from a handset, the location goes on the entry and their name stays against it.
