Stylist Calendar and Walk-In Queue for Hair Salons

The calendar holds one column for each stylist or chair, and walk-ins join a token queue beside it. Reception sees booked clients and waiting clients together before promising anyone a time.

What the calendar holds

Each booking carries the client, the services, the stylist and the start time. Duration comes from the service menu, so a colour service blocks more of the column than a trim.

Bookings by stylist

A client who asks for a particular stylist is placed in that column. Clients who do not mind are given whoever is free at that hour, so one busy chair is not overloaded by default.

Chair view

A salon with a few shared chairs can read the day by chair instead. The same booking shows in both views.

Reschedules and cancellations

A moved or cancelled booking is recorded with its reason. A cancellation frees the slot straight away.

Blocked time

A stylist’s lunch, a half day or a leave day is blocked in advance. No booking lands on it.

The walk-in queue

A client who walks in is given a token and the service they want. The queue lists tokens in order with the stylist they are waiting for, so the front desk can answer how long it will be without guessing. A booked client who arrives early can be moved ahead of the queue by reception.

From the chair to the bill

  • A booking opens the client’s hair history when the client arrives.
  • The stylist marks each service done on her own screen.
  • Completed services flow into the invoice at the counter.
  • The same entries feed that stylist’s commission for the month.

What the owner decides

The calendar does not decide how many walk-ins a salon takes in a busy hour. The owner sets booking rules, such as slot lengths and which services need a patch test first, and whether a no-show is charged is a policy for the salon. Online booking links are agreed during scoping.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can a stylist see only her own column?

Yes. A stylist’s login shows her own clients for the day, while the front desk and manager see every column.

What happens when a walk-in asks for a stylist who is busy?

The token waits against that stylist. Reception can offer another stylist from the queue screen if the client agrees, and the token then moves to the new column without being rewritten.

Can clients book on their own?

Online booking is scoped with the salon. Any booking that arrives that way lands on the same calendar as phone bookings.

Is the queue separate from the appointment book?

No. Both sit on one screen, so reception never has to compare a diary with a bench list.
