Paint Quantity Estimates for Walls and Sites
A buyer asks how much paint a house will take. The counter works litres and sundries from the area and the coats, and saves the figure against the enquiry.
What goes into an estimate
A few answers from the buyer are enough to begin. Everything else follows from the product chosen.
Sundries counted with the paint
From estimate to order
An estimate is saved against the enquiry with the buyer, the site and the date. The buyer takes a copy on paper or by message and often comes back after speaking to the painter. When the order is placed, the estimate becomes the invoice lines without anyone typing the list a second time. Part of it can be billed now and the rest later, with the balance still showing against the same site. Revisions sit beside the first version.
What an estimate does not settle
- It is an estimate of quantity, not a quotation for painting labour.
- Actual consumption on site depends on the painter and the surface.
- Coverage figures come from the paint company, not from GullySystem.
- Rates on the estimate follow the slab for that buyer at that date.
Frequently asked questions
Can an estimate be made without room measurements?
Yes, from a single area figure. The list is rougher, and the counter can say so on the printed copy.
Does the estimate include labour charges?
No. It covers paint and sundries only, since labour is between the buyer and the painter.
What if the painter asks for more paint midway?
A top-up is billed against the same site, and the estimate stays as it was so both figures can be compared.
Who sets the coverage per litre?
You do, from the company data sheet for each product. It is entered once in the product record and used by every estimate after that.
