Tinter and Base Stock for Paint Dealers

Dispensing eats two things at once, colourant from the canisters and paint from the base pack. Both are counted here, so neither runs dry in the middle of a job.

Colourant canisters

Level in each canister

Every colourant on the machine has a line, and the level falls as dispensing jobs close against it. A canister nearing the bottom appears on the counter screen. Refilling is planned, not rushed.

Top-ups and bottles received

Colourant bottles arriving from the depot are entered against the canister they fill. The operator notes the date and the quantity poured in.

Wastage and purging

Purging the nozzle and cleaning the head use colourant that no tin ever received. That quantity is written off on its own. The loss stays visible.

Base packs

Base and pack size

A dispensing job calls for one exact combination. White, light, medium and deep bases are therefore held by product and by pack size, and a substitution is never made quietly at the counter.

Levels that match the queue

A base running low with jobs still queued on it is flagged. The counter sees it before promising a buyer a tin this evening.

Plain stock and dispensed stock

A base pack is plain stock until a job takes it. After that it is a tinted pack with a shade against it, and it cannot go back to the company.

What the consumption figures show

Jobs closed over a period add up to colourant drawn and base packs used. Put beside the bottles received, that tells the owner whether consumption and purchase agree. Where they do not, purging, spillage and spoiled tins are the usual reasons, and each is already recorded with a note. The figures are read from your own entries, not estimated. Nothing is assumed about yield.

What the client decides

  • Which colourants sit on the machine and which bases you stock
  • The level at which a canister or base is called low
  • Who may write off purged or spilt colourant
  • Whether a second machine keeps a separate canister count
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does it measure colourant straight from the machine?

No. The quantity comes off the dispensing job entered at the counter, so the count is as good as what your staff record.

Can purging be left out of the count?

It can, though the figures then drift. Writing purged colourant off keeps consumption and bottles received close to each other.

Why are bases held separately from finished shades?

Because a job needs one base and one pack size. Once tinted, the tin is a shade and no longer interchangeable.

Is there a warning before a canister empties?

Yes. A canister below the level you set is listed for the operator and the counter, with the jobs still waiting on it.
