Backup and Recovery for PG Records
PG records are held on hosting we manage, not on the office computer. Owners can export their data at any time, and the handover copy is agreed in writing.
Where the records are held
Backup arrangements agreed at set-up
Backup frequency, storage location and who performs a restore are settled before go-live. They depend on the hosting chosen. All of it is recorded in the proposal that you read and sign before go-live. Ask for it.
What a backup does not cover
Suppose a payment was marked against the wrong tenant in March and found in June. Restoring an old copy would discard three months of other entries. Backups cover a failed machine or a lost file. A wrong entry is corrected in the record itself, with the correction dated and visible to whoever reviews the tenant’s account.
Frequently asked questions
If our internet goes down, are the day’s collections lost?
No. Records are stored on the server. Nothing sits on your machine. You cannot open them while the connection is down, so a phone with mobile data at the desk is useful.
Can we keep our own copy?
Yes. Export the tenant list, bills and receipts whenever you want. Nothing needs our permission.
What happens if we stop using the software?
You take your data with you. The handover copy is covered in the proposal before any work starts.
