Artwork and Proof Approval for Printing Presses
Artwork files, proof versions and the customer’s approval are kept against the job. Plates are then made from the version that was approved, and a later complaint can be checked against it.
Artwork received and checked
Customers send artwork by mail, WhatsApp or a pen drive at the counter. The file is attached to the job card with the date it arrived. The prepress operator checks size, bleed, resolution and colour mode before a proof is made.
The proof cycle
When the print and the proof differ
A customer sometimes says the printed card is not what was approved. The approved version and the date sit on the job. The press can compare them with the delivered work and with the customer’s reply. That settles most disagreements quickly.
What the module does not do
It does not edit artwork or typeset a job. Design work is done in the press’s own software, and the files are attached here. Colour accuracy on press depends on the machine, the paper and the operator, so a proof is a record of approval and not a promise of exact shade.
Frequently asked questions
Which file types can be attached?
PDF and common image files, and the open design file where the press wants it kept. The permitted types and file size are set during implementation.
Can customers approve from their own phone?
Their reply by WhatsApp or mail is recorded by the counter against the proof. A direct approval link would need its own scoping with the press.
Is every old version of a design kept?
Yes. Versions stay on the job, so the press can show which one was approved and which were rejected.
Does it work for digital print jobs with no plates?
Yes. The plate step simply does not appear on the job. The proof and approval record works in the same way.
