Repeat Jobs and Job History for Printing Presses
Many printing orders come back every year, such as diaries, receipt books and brochures. A repeat job opens from the earlier card with its specification, paper and approved artwork already attached.
Reorder from an old job
The counter searches by customer or job name and picks the earlier job. A new job card opens with the same size, paper, colours and finishing. Quantity and delivery date are the only things to change. Less is retyped. Fewer details are lost between years. Customers notice that.
What carries over
Reading a customer’s history
A customer’s history lists every job the press has done for them. Owners use it to see which accounts return and which have gone quiet. The counter uses it to answer a call without asking the customer to repeat what was printed last year.
What changes and what does not
A repeat job is a fresh job card with its own number, stock issue and invoice. The old card is never altered. If the customer wants a change in wording or design, a new proof is made and approved before any plates are made for the run.
Frequently asked questions
Can a repeat job use a new rate?
Yes. A fresh estimate is built from current paper and press rates, and the earlier rate stays visible for comparison.
Does it keep plates for a repeat order?
It records where old plates or film are stored, if the press keeps them. The physical plate store is outside the system.
How far back does job history go?
As far as the records you bring in at migration and everything entered afterwards. How much old data is imported is agreed during implementation.
Can history be searched by job name?
Yes. Search works on customer, job name, job number and paper, so an annual diary can be found even when the customer’s name is not remembered.
