Printing Press Views for Owners, Estimators and Operators

Each person at the press opens the screens for their own part of the job. The counter prices and opens cards, operators run stages, stores issues paper, and accounts bills.

One job, five roles

Owners

See jobs in hand, sales by customer, outstanding dues, paper stock and the jobs that earned less than their estimate. It is the view for deciding what to quote, whom to call, and which rates to revise.

Estimators and the counter

Take enquiries, prepare estimates, open job cards and send proofs to customers. Then chase any approval that has not come back. That follow-up is theirs.

Press and finishing operators

See the jobs booked on your machine, the paper issued and the stage that comes next. Mark each stage done as it finishes.

Stores and dispatch

Issue paper against jobs, receive paper from merchants, pack finished goods and raise delivery challans.

Accounts

Raise invoices from delivered jobs, record advances and payments, and follow dues by customer.

Through the life of a job

An enquiry reaches the counter, and the estimator prices it. When the customer accepts, a job card opens and the artwork is checked. Stores issues paper, and the press manager books the machine. Operators mark stages done as sheets move from press to cutting, folding and binding. Dispatch raises the challan. Accounts then raises the invoice from what was delivered.

At the end of the month

Accounts reviews dues and sends statements to customers. Stores matches the paper count to the stock entries. The owner reads costing for the month’s closed jobs and decides which rates to revisit with the estimator. Each person sees only what their own work needs.

What the client decides

  • Which roles exist at the press and who holds them
  • What each role may open, change or cancel
  • Who may see rates, margins and customer dues
  • Who may change a quote or give a discount
  • Whether operators use a phone, a tablet or a screen at the machine
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can an operator see what a customer is charged?

Not unless the owner allows it. The standard view for an operator is the job’s specification, paper and stage, without rates.

Do operators need to type much?

No. Marking a stage done, noting spoiled sheets or recording a count takes a few taps, and the device and the screen at each machine are agreed with the press beforehand.

Can the owner look at the press from home?

Yes. Owners can open jobs, stock and dues from a phone or laptop away from the press, using their own sign-in. Nothing needs to be installed.

Who changes a role’s access later?

Our team makes the change on request. Roles are first settled during implementation and revised as the press grows.
