School Bus Routes and Stops
Each route holds its stops in order, the pick-up and drop time at every stop, and the distance slab of each stop. Moving a stop moves the children mapped to it.
What a route holds
Planning before the term
Stops can be drawn from where children live now. A stop with nobody on it is visible, and so is a route with far fewer children than seats. Buses, drivers and attendants are assigned to routes here, so a route without a driver shows up before the first morning.
A list, not a map
Stops are named the way your area names them, with times and slabs against them. The module does not draw roads, calculate the shortest way round or know about a closed turn. The transport in-charge arranges the route.
Frequently asked questions
What happens when we merge two routes?
Stops move with their children. Seat counts on both buses change, and the fee follows the slab of the new stop if the stop changed.
Can one stop serve the morning route and a different evening route?
Yes. A child is mapped to a stop and a bus for the morning trip, the evening trip or both.
Do we need Google Maps for this?
No. Routes and stops are held as a list. Live location on a map is a separate matter and needs a tracking unit fitted to the bus.
