Where scheme money leaks

A scheme with no end date keeps being claimed after it should stop. When a rate cannot be looked up, a clerk may allow it out of doubt. A stop date settles the question.

The kinds of scheme it holds

Quantity slabs

Ten cartons at one rate, fifty at another. The slab is applied from the quantity on the order, not from what was remembered as promised.

Free quantity

Ten plus one, or a piece free on a bundle. It leaves the godown counted, like anything else on the lorry.

Festival and exchange offers

A festival offer and an exchange bonus each carry a start date and an end date. Both dates are set by the firm.

Printed as its own line

What was given appears on the invoice separately. The dealer sees the benefit, and the accounts team can add it up at month end.

Settling a claim afterwards

Claims are raised against the invoice they belong to, with photographs where there is damage, and followed until settled.

A scheme our sales officer promised verbally is not in the system. Then what?

It does not exist here, and the invoice goes out without it. Someone decides whether to honour it and records that decision as a claim or a credit note.

Can two schemes run on the same item?

Yes. Each scheme carries its own start and end dates, so an overlap on one item shows on the scheme list, and the firm chooses which one applies before billing.

Does the dealer see the scheme before ordering?

Yes. The running scheme sits on the same screen as the dealer’s rate and the stock, which is what makes a late-evening order possible.
