Questions to Ask Before Buying Packers and Movers Software
Ask how the survey becomes a quote, how cartons are photographed, how crews and hired lorries are booked, and how claims link back to photos. Ask what happens without signal. Ask what the system does not do. GullySystem’s Packers and Movers Management Software can be checked against these in a demo of your own kind of move.

Questions about the survey and the quote
A weak survey produces a weak quote. Have the vendor demonstrate a room-by-room survey on a phone, with photos, fragile marks, dismantling, floor number and lift access.
Then check whether the quote is built from that list and your own rate card. Two surveyors in the same house should reach the same figure. Packing material, labour, vehicle, loading, unloading and storage should appear as separate heads.
- Can a survey be done on a video call?
- Does the quote come straight from the survey list?
- Are the rates yours, or the vendor’s defaults?
- Can the customer see what each head covers?
Questions about cartons, photos and the delivery tally
Disputes are settled at delivery. Find out how each carton is numbered, what is recorded against it, and whether photos are taken at packing and again at the destination.
Next, see who ticks cartons off at delivery and how a missing number shows up. Labels need a printer at the packing end, so confirm which one the vendor expects.
Test the app in a basement or lift lobby. Crews stop using apps that lose their work.
Questions about crews, lorries and transit
Double bookings come from a schedule nobody else can see. Request a day with several moves, each with crew, supervisor, driver and lorry assigned. Hired vehicles should show against the contractor.
Customers will ask where the lorry is. On owned lorries a GPS device may feed position. For hired vehicles, find out how halts are logged and by whom.
Questions about claims, storage and billing
A damage claim should open against the move, with survey and delivery photos attached from the job. Check where insurer papers and the final settlement are recorded.
If you store goods, see how storage days are counted and billed. Corporate relocations need the purchase order, the employee moved and the approved heads on the invoice.
Finally, ask how invoices reach your accountant, and whether a Tally export is included or quoted separately.
- Claim linked to the move and its photos
- Storage in and out dates
- Corporate billing against a PO
- Accounts export, included or extra
Questions about data, price and limits
Ask who owns the customer and move data, and how you take a full copy if you leave. Open moves and balances should be brought across before go-live.
Ask what the vendor would advise against. A straight answer names businesses it does not suit, such as a single tempo owner doing a few houses a month. Get the price and set-up plan in writing after the demo.
Vendor question sheet
A sheet listing each question from this guide, with columns for every vendor’s answer, whether it was shown in the demo or only described, and follow-ups. Score “shown” above “described”. Bring it to every demo.

Should movers software pull leads from portals?
It is worth asking. Portals that send leads by email or API can often feed one list. Name the portals you use before the demo.
Does the software decide what a damage claim settles at?
No. It holds the survey and delivery photos and the claim record. The settlement is agreed with the customer, and with the insurer where a policy exists.
Will move figures reach Tally without extra work?
Not on their own in GullySystem’s case. Your accountant can read invoices and payments in the system, and an export for Tally is priced after your ledger layout is seen.
Does a small local mover need software at all?
Perhaps not yet. A single tempo owner shifting two or three houses a month can manage with a duplicate book and UPI.
