One three-seater sits on the floor for customers to try. Another is in the godown, and a third is still being made. The stock screen counts all three separately, and only one of them can be promised for Sunday.
The dining set that was promised on Sunday
A salesman looks across the floor, sees the walnut dining set and promises delivery by the weekend. The godown rings back on Monday, and the only piece left is the display one, with a scratch along the near edge. Now somebody has to call the customer and start the conversation again.
What the stock screen keeps apart
Showroom, godown and display
Every model carries a count for each location, and display pieces are marked on their own. A salesperson can see what may go out new and what may not.
Reserved against an order
Once an advance is taken, that piece is held for that order. The floor cannot sell it twice. It stops showing as free stock to the next salesperson walking a customer around the floor.
Fabric, finish and size
A sofa offered in two fabrics is two lines, not one. The count follows the fabric code and finish the customer will actually receive.
Goods received from the supplier
Stock rises when the lorry is unloaded, entered by your store manager as he receives it. The godown and the screen agree the same evening instead of at month end.
Low stock, flagged early
Each model carries a level below which it should be reordered. What has fallen under that level is a list on screen, not something the store manager has to remember.
Two showrooms and a warehouse, one count
Nobody has to ring the other showroom. Stock in the second branch can be read from the first, which settles the usual phone call before the customer is standing there.

Frequently asked questions
Can we see display pieces separately from sellable stock?
Yes. A display piece is marked as display, so it counts in your stock value but is never promised as new. When you decide to clear it at a discount, it sells like any other piece.
Does it handle a warehouse away from the showroom?
Yes. Showrooms and godowns are separate locations, and a movement between them is entered as a transfer. The counter can see both before giving a customer a date.
What if the physical count and the screen disagree?
Then somebody has to walk the godown. Software cannot see a shelf. It shows you the difference and saves the correction with the name of whoever made it.
