Support Staff Rosters for Hospital Operations

Housekeeping, maintenance, security and technicians are rostered by shift and floor. A job is then assigned to someone who is on duty, rather than to a name from last week.

Rosters tied to the job queue

A job needs an owner who is present in the building. The roster records who is on which shift and which floor, and when a supervisor assigns a job, the choice comes from the people on duty. Jobs, rosters and escalation sit in the same system.

What the roster holds

Teams

Housekeeping, maintenance, security and technicians, each rostered on its own list, so a supervisor looks only at the people who can do that kind of job.

Shift and floor

Each person is placed against a shift and a floor, so a supervisor sees who is free nearby.

Jobs against people

Jobs assigned are shown against the staff on duty, shift by shift, so that an overloaded shift can be seen on the same screen as its roster.

Night staff

Night shifts are rostered like any other. Night staff see their own jobs.

What it reports

Support staff on duty against jobs assigned is a report by shift. It shows whether a shift is short against the load it carries. Jobs that cross their response time can then be read next to who was on duty at the time.

What the client decides

Shift patterns, floors and blocks are entered during implementation. Staffing levels remain a decision for the hospital. The roster records who is on duty and where. It does not set how many people a shift needs, and it does not replace the supervisor’s judgement on who should take a job.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does the roster cover nurses and doctors?

No. It covers housekeeping, maintenance, security and technicians. Clinical rosters belong in the hospital’s own system.

Can a supervisor assign a job to someone off duty?

The assignment list is built from the roster for the shift. How exceptions are handled is agreed during implementation.

Does it work for several floors or blocks?

Yes. Floors and blocks are configured first, and the roster is kept by shift and floor.

Is leave handled here?

This module holds the shift roster. Leave handling for support staff is agreed with the hospital during scoping.
