Artwork proofs, film lots, converting stages and pallet labels in one job record.

Quotations, artwork proofs, film and ink lots, gravure printing, dry lamination, pouch making, seal checks and delivery for food packaging sit in one record per job. Each job carries its film structure, its approved artwork and the reels consumed. Whoever opens a job, from the estimator to the laminator crew to the dispatch clerk, sees the same record from first proof to last pallet label.

  • Your layers, inks and cylinder charges priced as your estimators price them today
  • Current reels, live jobs and customer specs carried in at the start
  • GullySystem staff alter stages and check limits whenever you ask

Food Packaging Manufacturer Management Software from GullySystem covers quotations, artwork approvals, reel lots and converting stages for makers of pouches, cartons, trays and lidding. Every job holds its film structure, signed proof, lot numbers and check readings. Pallet labels carry the same trail, so a customer’s question about one pack leads back to a reel.

Where it breaks today

What goes wrong before the software.

Proofs and plates disagree

The customer signs a proof by email, yet prepress keeps working from a newer file. A changed barcode or allergen line is found after the gravure cylinder has been engraved. Re-engraving costs days.

Reel numbers vanish after slitting

A laminate joins BOPP and CPP reels from different suppliers, and the core tags are binned once the roll is slit. A filler’s complaint about one pouch then has no reel to point to. Everything is suspect.

Cure waiting is held in someone’s head

Solventless adhesive needs time in the cure room before a laminated roll is slit. The date is chalked on the pallet, and an early cut shows as odour or weak bond strength at the filler. Nobody can prove the date.

Costing ignores the structure

Estimators price film by kilo in a sheet that forgets metallised layers, gusset waste, doctor blade changes and cylinder amortisation. Repeat jobs are quoted again from scratch. Margins wander.

Supplier declarations are filed by supplier

Declarations of compliance and overall migration test reports sit in a cabinet by film or ink vendor. Finding which covered a given job means opening every folder, and a customer audit drags.

Hygiene and seal checks live on shift sheets

Heat seal strength, dyne level, colour reads and metal detector tests are written by hand with a biro. Nobody sees a drift until a pallet is rejected. By then the run is over.

How it runs

How the work flows through it, step by step.

  1. 1

    Enquiry and structure

A brand owner sends pouch size, fill volume and the product to be packed, such as crisps, yoghurt or biscuit dough. The estimator proposes a film structure and prices it from layers, gauge and print coverage.

  2. 2

    Artwork and proof

Prepress builds the separations, the customer signs a proof, and the signed version is locked. Cylinders or flexo plates are ordered against it. Nothing is engraved earlier.

  3. 3

    Material planning

Film, ink and adhesive are reserved against the job. Purchasing orders what is short. Goods received are booked with supplier lot numbers and reel widths.

  4. 4

    Print and laminate

The press runs the job to the colour reference, checking registration and ink viscosity. Laminated rolls move to the cure rack. The earliest slitting date is recorded.

  5. 5

    Slit and form

Slitters and pouch machines convert the rolls. Operators record seal jaw strength, print registration and pouch weights, and rejects are logged with a cause such as wrinkle or tunnelling. Scrap is counted.

  6. 6

    Pack and deliver

Cartons are palletised with a label for job, lot and count. A delivery note and any requested certificate go out. The invoice follows.

Modules

What is inside.

Every module can be switched on, left out or changed to match how your team already works.

Enquiries and film structure quotes

Log the brand owner’s request and price it from layers, gauge, print coverage, cylinder charges and pouch format, keeping each revision beside the last.

Artwork and proof control

Hold every artwork version, the customer’s signed proof, the barcode and the allergen text, and block cylinder orders until a proof is signed.

Bill of materials by structure

List film layers, inks, adhesive and shipper cartons for each pack, so a repeat order draws the same materials without rework.

Reel, ink and adhesive lots

Book each reel on receipt with supplier lot and width, issue it to a job, and record the weight of the returned core and offcut.

Press and laminator scheduling

Plan jobs by press and laminator, group by colour and web width to cut solvent washes, and show which rolls still wait in the cure room.

Slitting and pouch conversion

Record rolls slit, pouches made and rejects by cause, with machine and operator, against the work order.

Seal, colour and hygiene checks

Operators enter seal strength, registration, colour reads and metal detector tests on a tablet, and a reading outside the limit holds the pallet.

Food-contact document file

Store supplier declarations and migration test reports against materials and jobs, with expiry dates that prompt a renewal request.

Purchasing of film and inks

Raise orders to film, ink and adhesive suppliers, receive against them and keep the last rate agreed with each.

Pallet labels and dispatch

Labels show job, lot and count for each pallet, and the truck leaves with its delivery note and any certificate the customer wants.

Invoices and customer accounts

Bill for what was delivered, record payments and see which brand owner has waited longest to pay.

Solutions inside

The business modules it is built from.

Each one is also available on its own, or inside a system built for you.

  • Estimate/Quotation Management

Quotes are priced from layers, gauge, print coverage and cylinder cost, and each revision stays beside the earlier one for the next reorder.

  • Project Document Management

Artwork versions and the customer’s signed proof are stored together, and cylinder orders wait until the signed proof is attached to the job.

  • Bill of Materials

A pack’s film layers, inks, adhesive and shipper cartons are listed once and drawn again whenever the brand owner reorders the same pouch.

  • Batch and Serial Tracking

Every reel carries its supplier lot from receipt to job, so a filler’s complaint about one pouch leads to the film behind it.

  • Production Planning

Jobs are grouped by colour and web width for each press, and rolls still waiting in the cure room appear on the same board.

  • Quality Control

Seal strength, registration and metal detector readings are entered at the line, and a value outside the limit holds that pallet.

  • Document Management

Declarations and migration test reports are filed against materials and jobs, with expiry dates that prompt a request to the supplier.

  • Barcodes and Labels

Pallet labels print job, lot and count, so a scan at the dock matches the delivery note and the customer’s receiving record.

Services

How we would put it in.

Setup, data migration, integrations and anything built on top.

Who uses it

One system, each person sees their part.

For owners

See jobs on press, rolls in cure, proofs awaiting signature, reel stock value and balances by brand owner.

For estimators and prepress

Price structures, issue proofs, record customer sign-off and release cylinders and plates for the signed version only.

For press and converting supervisors

Release work to presses, laminators and pouch machines, watch cure dates and mark rejects with their cause.

For quality and hygiene staff

Set check limits, review readings by line and keep the declarations that cover each material.

For stores and dispatch

Receive reels, release them to the press for each job, mark the pallets and print the dispatch papers.

Reports

The numbers the owner asks for.

  • Jobs by stage with press, laminator and cure room status
  • Reels and inks consumed against each job, with core and offcut returns
  • Rejects by cause, machine and operator
  • Heat seal strength and colour readings by line over a run
  • Proofs awaiting signature, oldest first
  • Declarations and migration reports nearing expiry
  • Pallets dispatched with job and lot numbers
Good fit

Who this is built for.

  • Converters that print and laminate flexible pouches and wrappers for snack, dairy and bakery brands
  • Carton and folding box makers whose customers fill food products
  • Tray and lidding film converters supplying ready-meal packers
  • Plants that run gravure or flexographic presses beside a laminator and pouch machines
  • Packaging makers who answer food brands’ supplier questionnaires and customer audits
Honest answer

When it is not the right choice.

  • A small print shop that makes occasional food labels may find a job book enough.
  • Makers of steel drums, woven sacks or wooden crates should look at Industrial Packaging Manufacturer Management Software, while film extruders are better served by Packaging Film Manufacturer Management Software.
Made to fit

Adapted to your business before it goes live.

You are not handed a login and left to it. The product is set up around your records, your people and the tools you already use.

Your film structures and rates

Layers, gauges, inks, adhesives and cylinder charges go in as your estimator prices a pack now.

Converting stages

Print, lamination, cure, slitting and pouch forming become the stages on your floor board, in the order your plant runs them.

Check limits

Your quality lead enters seal, registration, colour and weight limits for each pack type, and a customer’s specification may override them with its own.

Open jobs and reel stock

Customers, live jobs, reel racks and unpaid invoices are carried over from your present spreadsheets.

Currency and tax settings

Export orders are invoiced in the buyer’s currency under local tax rules, reviewed with you during implementation.

Common questions

Questions owners ask before a demo.

Can a customer complaint be traced to a reel?

Yes. Every job lists the film, ink and adhesive lots drawn for it. A pallet label opens the job, and the job opens each reel with its supplier lot. Your quality staff set how long that trail is kept.

Does it stop plates being made from an unsigned proof?

Yes. A plate or cylinder order is blocked until the customer’s signed proof is attached to the job. If artwork changes, the earlier plate order is flagged for review.

How is lamination cure handled?

A laminated roll goes to the cure rack with the earliest date it may be slit. Slitting cannot start earlier unless a supervisor records a reason, and the date shows on the planning board.

Does it replace our supplier food-contact paperwork?

It files the declarations and test reports against the materials and jobs they cover, with expiry dates. Judging whether a document is enough for a customer remains with your own quality team.

Can seal and colour checks be entered on the floor?

Yes. Operators use a tablet at the press or pouch line. Limits come from the customer’s specification, and a reading outside them holds the lot until a supervisor releases it.

Can we cost a job by film structure?

Yes. Layers, gauge, print coverage, cylinder cost and pouch format feed the quotation. The saved structure is reused when the brand owner reorders.

How do our reel stock and open jobs get in?

Stores staff count the reels on the racks, and that count goes in alongside widths and supplier lots. We check the system against the racks, and only then does a live job start.

Who owns the job and lot records?

You do. Jobs, proofs and lot trails can be exported at any time, and the quotation names the file format.

What decides what we pay?

Cost grows with the people who log in and the press, laminator and pouch lines you want configured. A demo on sample pouch jobs comes first, and the proposal then states the figure.
