Freight Rates and Transport Quotations
Route rates for each party are kept where the booking counter can reach them. A quotation for a one-off load is raised from the same screen.
How a rate is held
Quoting a load
A trader rings about a load and the counter opens the party. If a contract rate covers that route and lorry type, it is quoted straight away. Where there is none, a quotation is raised with the rate your office decides for that trip, and it is sent by mail or WhatsApp. An accepted quotation becomes the rate on the booking.
What the rate list feeds
What your office decides
- The routes and lorry types your rate list is built on
- Who may quote below the party rate, and by how much
- Free days before detention is charged on a route
- Whether diesel movement is passed on, and how
What rates do not do
No rate is suggested by the system. What you charge on a route is your commercial call, taken on the lane, the return load and the party you are dealing with. Diesel prices are not read from anywhere, and a revision is entered by your office when it decides to pass one on.
Frequently asked questions
Can two parties have different rates on one route?
Yes. Each party keeps its own rate, and the counter sees the rate of the party it is booking for.
How is a one-time load priced?
A quotation is raised for that trip without touching the rate list, and it can be turned into a booking once accepted.
What happens when a contract is revised?
The new rate is entered with its own start date. Loads already booked keep the rate that was agreed for them.
Can a rate cover a return load?
Yes, where you price the round trip. Both legs can sit under one rate or be held as two separate lanes.
