One connected system for department stock, concession counters, tills and supplier accounts.
Manage stock by department and floor, seasonal buying, supplier orders, markdowns, concession counters, gift cards, layaway, returns, tills and loyalty in one system. Each department carries its own sales, margin and ageing stock, and each concession brand has its own settlement. Cashiers sell on one screen and finance reconciles every tender at close. Nothing is retyped.
- Departments, season codes and markdown rules keyed in as your buyers plan them
- Item list, supplier balances and open gift cards brought across
- Local currency and tax rules applied and walked through with you
Department Store Management Software, configured by GullySystem, runs stock, buying, tills and concession counters for department stores. Each department holds its own stock, markdowns and margin, while brand-owned counters ring through the same tills and are settled by commission. Gift cards, layaway and returns post to the same records, and finance reconciles tender at close.
What goes wrong before the software.
How the work flows through it, step by step.
- 1
Season plan and buying
Buyers plan each department’s season and raise purchase orders to suppliers. Delivery windows and ticket prices are recorded with each order.
- 2
Receiving and ticketing
Goods are received against the order in the stockroom. Shortages and damage are noted. Items are then labelled and sent to the floor.
- 3
Selling at the till
Cashiers scan items, apply staff discounts or loyalty offers and take cash, card or a gift card. Concession sales are tagged to the brand.
- 4
Returns, layaway and gift cards
Returns and exchanges are recorded with a reason. Layaway items are held against deposits, and gift cards are issued and redeemed.
- 5
Markdown and transfers
Ageing lines are marked down with an approval. Transfers between floors or to the outlet rail are logged when they happen.
- 6
Close and settlement
Finance reconciles each till’s tender. Concession brands are settled. Supplier statements are matched to goods received.
What is inside.
Every module can be switched on, left out or changed to match how your team already works.
The business modules it is built from.
Each one is also available on its own, or inside a system built for you.
- Multi-Outlet Stock
Each floor, display and stockroom keeps its own count of an item, and a transfer between them moves the stock without losing the trail.
- Purchase Order Management
Buyers raise orders against a department’s season plan, and each order tracks its delivery window and what the supplier still owes.
- Goods Receipt (GRN)
The stockroom receives line by line against the order, notes short and damaged items, and the receipt later matches the supplier’s statement.
- Point of Sale Billing
Cashiers sell by barcode with staff discounts and offers, and each shift’s cash, card and gift card totals are compared at close.
- Price Lists and Schemes
A department’s markdown or promotion runs for its set dates at the approved price, so tickets and tills never disagree.
- Loyalty and Offers
Purchases link to a customer’s account for points and offers, and spend can be read by department across floors.
- Sales Returns and Credit Notes
A return records its reason and goes back to the shelf or to the supplier, with a credit, exchange or refund to the original tender.
- Vendor Management
Each supplier’s terms, invoices and disputes sit on one record, and the statement is matched against what the stockroom actually received.

Questions owners ask before a demo.
Can each department see its own figures?
Yes. Stock, sales, margin and markdown are held by department, so a buyer reads only the department they own, and a store manager reads the whole floor.
How are brand-owned counters settled?
Sales at a counter are tagged to its brand. A settlement lists takings, returns, staff discounts and card charges, deducts the agreed commission and shows the amount payable.
Can a markdown need approval?
Yes. A reduction is proposed for a department and date range, approved by the person your rules name and then applied. The record shows who approved it and the stock covered.
Does it handle gift cards and layaway?
Yes. A gift card carries a live balance and is redeemed at any till. A layaway item is held against its deposit and released when the last payment posts.
What does the closing routine include?
Each till’s cash, card and gift card totals are compared with the sales it recorded. Variances are noted per shift. Finance then posts the day from one summary.
Can stockroom staff receive against supplier orders?
Yes. Deliveries are received line by line against the purchase order, with shortages and damage noted. The supplier’s statement is later matched to those receipts.
Can item lists and open balances be moved across?
Yes. The register or spreadsheet feeds in the item list, supplier balances, gift cards and layaway holds, and store staff review the imported records before opening day.
Who owns the store’s data?
You do. Items, sales and settlement data stay yours, and the format for taking them out is agreed when the quotation is drawn up.
How is pricing decided?
The figure follows the number of tills, departments and stockrooms, and whether concessions and an online link are included. You see a demo built around your own floors, and the proposal that follows names the cost.
Does it run when the internet drops?
Selling needs a connection, so a till pauses until the link returns. Offline selling is not included, though it can be scoped as separate work.
Wondering what it costs? Six questions give you a written scope and the buckets any quote should separate.
